Why Start a Young Person in Golf?

“Golf affords a wide field of observation for the philosopher and the student of human nature. To play it aright (well) requires nerve, endurance, and self-control, qualities which are essential to success in all great vocations.” – From the book, The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes – Golf, by Englishman Horace G. Hutchinson, which was published in 1890. Hutchinson was a fine player in his own right, winning the (British) Amateur Championship in 1886 and 1887 and having three Top-10 finishes in the Open Championship.

Little Swinger Program

The “LITTLE SWINGERS” (boys and girls) program is designed for junior golfers age 4-7 (parent or grandparent must be a member) to help develop and improve their fundamentals, learn the basic rules and etiquette of golf, all while having fun!

The Little Swingers Program started on June 12th with 3 different classes. 

9:30 class ages 4-5
 
10:30 class ages 6-7 

1:30 Elite swingers- class for kids who are 7 to 8 designed for kids who have taken classes and have played more golf. 

The program will run for 8 consecutive weeks and finish up on Saturday July 24th. 

 
Our little swingers back nine fun tournament is scheduled for Monday July 19th starting at 8:00am. Groups and times will be organized an posted for all participants. 

Weekly Schedule:
 
Week 1 - putting
Week 2 - chipping
Week 3 - combination of short game
Week 4 - full swing
Week 5 - full swing
Week 6 - hitting targets
Week 7 - drivers and fairway woods
Week 8 - full swing continued

Junior Days

Junior Days will be on Tuesdays, starting June 29th and will run through the summer.  This program is included with the junior membership.  Junior days will be a fun, activity based program to help kids learn skills and help grow their games.  We will have 3 different times on Tuesdays and will only allow 25 kids per group.  The 3 time slots are 10am, 11am, and 12pm.  Sign up by emailing Don at donconnollygolfacademy@gmail.com with the time slot you would like your junior to be in.

JUNIOR DAY ACTIVITIES FOR SUMMER
 
Each session will run for 50 minutes with 10 minutes of clean up with all juniors. All classes will involve some skills and drills to help in the learning process and also go over different rules and help explain etiquette to all of our juniors. We will have 1 hour of tee times set aside for our juniors looking to play on this day. We will have 3 different times to choose from to run through the summer and will accept up to 25 juniors for each class.

Don Connolly's Golf Academy Junior Clinics

Junior clinics will be starting Monday June 28th and will be running for 11 straight weeks. The cost for the clinics will be $120.00 + HST for the summer, and to sign up please email donconnollygolfacademy@gmail.com. We will be accepting only 12 kids per class.    •    1:00 – 2:00 (ages 15 +)
   •    2:00 – 3:00 (Elite junior – students preparing for tournaments)

Week 1 – Putting (distance control, set up and understanding direction)
Week 2 – Chipping (set up, grip, club selection process)
Week 3 – Short game (combining chipping and putting and up and downs)
Week 4 – 100 yards and in (full swing drills and alignment)
Week 5 – Full swing irons) – including mental preparation.
Week 6 – Continuing full swing including pre-shot routine.
Week 7 – Fairway woods and Hybrids
Week 8 – Driving – (increasing speed and understanding set up)
Week 9 – Going through the bag day (club selection and understanding lies)
Week 10 – Drive Chip and Putt day
Week 11 – Closing fun day with skills and drills

The Riverside Junior Girls Club

 The Riverside Junior Girls Club is a weekly series of golf clinics. This program is strictly for our junior girls every Wednesday Morning. This year we will have 2 groups of girls starting at 8:00 and will follow a complete lesson plan starting from short game and gradually progressing to full swing and on course training.  The cost of this program will be $80 + HST per junior.

The Junior Girls club will begin on Wednesday, June 30th and will run for 9 weeks. The cost for the program will be $80.00 + HST. To sign up please email donconnollygolfacademy@gmail.com. Please include the following information for your child:
