Why Start a Young Person in Golf?

“Golf affords a wide field of observation for the philosopher and the student of human nature. To play it aright (well) requires nerve, endurance, and self-control, qualities which are essential to success in all great vocations.” – From the book, The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes – Golf, by Englishman Horace G. Hutchinson, which was published in 1890. Hutchinson was a fine player in his own right, winning the (British) Amateur Championship in 1886 and 1887 and having three Top-10 finishes in the Open Championship.

Little Swinger Program

The “LITTLE SWINGERS” (boys and girls) program is designed for junior golfers age 4-7 (parent or grandparent must be a member) to help develop and improve their fundamentals, learn the basic rules and etiquette of golf, all while having fun!

July 4th – putting
July 11th – chipping
July 18th – full swing
July 25th – Continue with full swing
9 Hole Little Swingers Tournament to be determined

This is an introductory program to golf with many activities including other sports and different body movements key to developing the necessary skills to swing. The fee for the little swingers program will be $35.00. We will have two groups, one starting at 10:00 and the other at 11:00. There must be an adult present with each child. This will be an interactive program between children and adults in a safe and playful environment.

Junior Skills and Drills

With the focus of keeping the children in a safe learning environment we will be offering the following Monday junior day skills and drills

Class sizes of 10 or less
Clinics length of 30 minutes offered every second Monday
Children can sign up for the below clinics but will not be able to change groupings at any time during the summer.

We will also be offering play after the clinics for interested juniors.  Juniors must confirm play by registering online through the weekly update.

Advanced Junior Clinics 


Another option we are happy to offer are advanced junior clinics for a limited number of juniors.  Book now as space is limited.  Details of the clinics are as follows:
 
July 6th– Putting - including set up, reading greens and distance control.(30 min lesson followed by skills and drills)
July 13th – Chipping – set up, club selection and distance control (30 min lesson followed by skills and drills)
July 20th – Up and Downs – Combining both putting and chipping (30 min lesson followed by skills and drills)
July 27 – Inside 100 yards – Club selection, set up and distance control (45 min lesson and skills)
August 3 – Iron play – set up, impact positions, finishing swings, understanding lies (50 min lesson)
August 10th – Hybrid and fairway woods – set up, ball positions, adjusting for lies (50 min lesson)
August 17th – Driver – Understanding set up, importance of alignment and target control (50 min lesson)
August 24th – Drive chip and putt day – Fun games and skill testing (1 hour)

These clinics will run on Mondays at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00pm
The junior clinics fee will be $50.00 for the 8 week session and we will work hard to make sure all juniors learn all of the basics along with having fun.  All clinics will be following the Golf Canada Future Links Program along with drills from TPI programs.

The Riverside Junior Girls Club

 The Riverside Junior Girls Club is a weekly series of golf clinics. This program is strictly for our junior girls every Wednesday Morning. This year we will have 2 groups of girls starting at 8:00 and will follow a complete lesson plan starting from short game and gradually progressing to full swing and on course training.  The cost of this program will be $50 per junior.
