Why Start a Young Person in Golf?

“Golf affords a wide field of observation for the philosopher and the student of human nature. To play it aright (well) requires nerve, endurance, and self-control, qualities which are essential to success in all great vocations.” – From the book, The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes – Golf, by Englishman Horace G. Hutchinson, published in 1890.

Hutchinson was a fine player in his own right, winning the (British) Amateur Championship in 1886 and 1887 and having three Top-10 finishes in the Open Championship.
